To further boost the university’s international operations and strengthen its teaching and research capabilities, Shanxi Normal University (SXNU) is now openly recruiting foreign experts (non-language fields) and foreign faculty (language fields) from around the world. Details are as follows:

I. Recruitment Categories and Requirements

i. Foreign Faculty (Language Teaching)

1. Responsibilities:

Conduct courses in spoken language, culture, writing, etc., for English, Japanese, and other languages; participate in language teaching reforms, textbook development, and guidance for students’ language practice activities.

2. Qualifications:

Native speaker of the target language, with standard pronunciation and fluent, natural language expression; Bachelor’s degree or higher, holding a TEFL, TESL, or TESOL certificate; at least one year of language teaching experience, with the ability to effectively manage classroom dynamics; excellent cross-cultural communication skills; good health, capable of adapting to the teaching schedule in Chinese universities; preferably between 22 and 55 of age.

ii. Foreign Experts (Non-Language Fields)

1. Responsibilities:

Teach courses in fields such as natural sciences, engineering, etc.; conduct research in relevant areas, participate in or lead collaborative research projects; supervise graduate students and assist in cultivating disciplinary teams to enhance the university’s research capabilities.

2. Qualifications:

Comply with Chinese laws, regulations, and university policies; align with the university’s educational philosophy and campus culture; hold a doctoral degree or the title of associate professor or higher; three to five years of teaching and research experience in higher education, with a research direction matching the university’s key disciplines or major research projects; age generally not exceeding 60—for top talents in their field with significant research achievements, the age limit may be extended to 65.

II. Remuneration, Benefits, and Support

i. Salary and Benefits

Housing: Complementary apartment with private spaces such as a bathroom, a kitchen, a bedroom, and a living room, equipped with basic amenities like a TV, air conditioner, and refrigerator.

Allowances: Annual travel allowance and international round-trip flight subsidy.

Salary: For foreign faculty (language teaching), annual salary is negotiable based on qualifications. For foreign experts (non-language fields), SXNU’s high-level talent policy may apply, with additional research startup funds and relocation allowance.

ii. Research and Work Support

Research Support: Foreign experts (non-language fields) may apply to form academic teams. The university will assist in applying for national and provincial research projects. Outstanding research teams will be recruited on a case-by-case basis with customized support plans.

Other Services: Assistance with work permits, residence permits, and other procedures. Free Chinese language training and cross-cultural adaptation service to help integrate quickly into the campus life.
