On the morning of December 10, the “Touring across Shanxi” Online Winter Camp, hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under the Ministry of Education and organized by SXNU, officially commenced. Vice President Wang Yun attended and addressed the ceremony. More than 200 teachers and students from Vietnam, Thailand, the Republic of Korea, and other countries gathered on the internet to begin their cultural journey through Shanxi.

In his speech, Wang Yun welcomed participants from various countries and expressed gratitude to the Center for its strong support. He outlined the university’s development strengths, academic advantages, and Chinese language education profile. He noted that SXNU attached great importance to the winter camp and prepared a rich, distinctive, and engaging program of language and cultural courses. He hoped that participants would immerse themselves in Shanxi’s profound historical and cultural heritage, broaden their horizons, and deepen their knowledge. He also extended an invitation for students to pursue further studies at the university, contributing to greater mutual understanding and mutual learning among different languages and cultures.

Representatives from the Republic of Korea’s Mokpo National University, Thailand’s Ramkhamhaeng University, and Vietnam’s Hanoi University of Industry offered congratulatory remarks, expressing appreciation for the learning platform provided by SXNU and wishing the camp a complete success. A SXNU faculty representative encouraged students to make the most of the opportunity to experience the beauty of Shanxi culture, assuring them of the teaching team’s dedication to delivering high-quality instruction. Participants shared their excitement about exploring Shanxi culture and anticipation for the upcoming program.

The seven-day winter camp combines live streaming with recorded sessions. In addition to language courses, participants will explore the distinctive cultural elements of Shanxi, including its famous vinegar and liquor traditions, traditional courtyard architecture, traditional opera, local customs, idioms, and Tang poetry. This is the first time SXNU has been approved to host a “Chinese Bridge” Online Group Exchange Project, representing a milestone in our international Chinese education and cultural dissemination efforts, and playing an important role in promoting our international exchanges and cooperation and enhancing our international reputation.
